Emerging Director Residency

The 2024 Emerging Director Summer Residency will invite one emerging professional theatre artist (ages 16-24) to co-direct the 2024 EPE Summer Production of ALICE BY HEART (Steven Sater & Duncan Sheik). The Directing Resident will work alongside the EPE Resident Director to envision and create all aspects of the production, including:

• Casting

• Creating & articulating the show concept to actors & designers

• Partnering with the vocal director & choreographer to ensure an aligned vision

• Facilitating rehearsals - blocking, giving notes, supporting actors to create strong work

• Participating in Technical Rehearsals

Other details:

Eligibility: Emerging Directors ages 16-24 are invited to apply. Housing is not provided - candidates must have a plan to live within the Twin Cities Metro area from May - July 2024.

Pay: The Directing Resident will receive a minimum paid stipend of $500.

Time Commitment:

May - virtually review audition tape & participate in in-person callbacks

June & July - evening rehearsals (6-10 pm); Tuesday - Saturday

End of July - Tech Rehearsals

Show Dates: July 25 - August 3
